The assembly elections in the 5 states are over. For some the results brought cheers and for some it is a moment not worth remembering. Win and Loss is part and parcel of elections. However, this time the margin of Win and Defeat is huge. The anger amongst voters was palpable. The shear increase in voting percentage by more then 18% is true story of Democracy. The message to the parties during these elections has been crystal clear. "DO NOT TAKE US FOR GRANTED".

Message is there for everyone in the elections. But, the message for the two main political parties must worry them for future elections. For the grand old party (Congress) the message given by voters must be giving sleepless night for them. Losing many seats even in the main bastion of the first family (Amethi & Rae Bareli) is real cause of concern. Most worrying aspect for them is that the family names are not working in present INDIA. India of 1980s and now have changed dramatically. Generation Next (18-40) do not go by "Charisma" anymore. The party needs to change the way it works. Otherwise such defeats will become routine for them. The party also needs to come out of "Sycophancy" which has been hall mark of the party.

Other side of the spectrum the BJP also needs to worry. Although, they have won in GOA comprehensively and Win in Punjab that also due to the allies does not give any solace to the party. They are very lucky that they did not get routed in the state of UTTARAKAND. The loss in UP along with the grand old party does not give the party any reason to rejoice. They may rejoice the loss of other side. However, the reality is that they have no reason to rejoice. If they do not do repair work they are doomed just like the grand old party.

The morale of the story after these elections for both party are simple. Both need to shed certain way of working. The grand old party needs to understand that the Minority vote bank will not work anymore. Also they cannot afford to piggy back on a family name any further. They also need some good spokes person who can speak at a right time and right moment. For the BJP it needs to understand that Majority vote bank will not work in new India. They also need to shed the urban India party image. They can never win an election when they do not have any support from rural India. Both for the sake of the nation need to remove the egos and work towards the nation building. Otherwise both parties will be history and will have no space and will lose further respect within the country.

IPL A GREAT INTEGRATOR

We call IPL as "Indian Premier League". But I call it as "International Premier League". IPL is a true blend of National and International players gelling together & it is learning curb for each players. Yes, it is true that lots of money flows but bigger picture is to be seen over here. What IPL has done to Indian nationhood, no other League or Institution has done.

It has achieved the impossible; which is "National & International Integration" which was lacking in Indian society. A player from every state gets a chance to play under one FLAG. It has allowed serious regionalism which is prevalent in our society to take a back seat (which is good sign) for all of us. Not only that the International players get a chance to learn about INDIA which has unique identity of it's own, but Indian players come to know lot about the International players & it's culture. Of course money part cannot be set aside. It is something which is one of the most important factors the players are playing for. Money & Fame is instant which none of these players would have ever dreamt off.

If such events takes place in other sports too in India, it will change the whole complexion of Indian sports and the desire for players to play the game will drive them to perform at the best of the ability. Learning from other countries is always a plus point and vice versa. Such events will always narrow down these wrong notions we have for each other in different parts of the world.

In the end although people may Love or Hate Lalit Modi. But this is his baby and we must appreciate that this event today is a Mega success only because him. We need many more such Modis who can bring up Indian sports to the world standards.

Karnataka Nataka

There is a say "Insaan Jab Andha ho jata hai. tau usko kuch nahi dikhai deta".. "Aur jab aakhe kulti hai tab tak bahut der hochi ki hoti hai"... The "Kartnataka fiasco" is classical example of a man when goes blind he or she does not see anything. The nataka which has been going on from past few weeks in the state govt., clearly shows how the Indian Political System has disintegrated into pieces. The first BJP govt. in South India, a pride moment for the party. The pride has been taken away in matter of few weeks, not only due to intense infighting within the party, but, also due to hawks inside the party and outside the party waiting to grab the opportunity to "TOPPLE" the Govt. The major blame does goto the CM of the state, for not been able to stem the rebellion and the conspiracy been hatched in last two months. It was too late to stem the rebellion, as the those who were waiting for this opportunity to bring down the Govt had frisked way the MLAS, openly and blatantly. When the party knew of past incidents of toppled game by it's rivals, it should have done it's homework better. Over confidence of the CM did him in and today whatever imagine he had built has taken a serious beating.

Mind you, here I am certainly blaming the CM, but fact of the matter is that the other parties are as much responsible for the state of affairs in the state. To see a former PM's SON virtually taking the MLA to all parts of the country, is a disgrace and slap on the Nation. And we all just saw this drama unfold. This also shows that loyalty of the (MLAS) not only towards party, Democracy but also towards the people of the State and the country is non existent. Here I am not targeting one party. This goes for each and every party. No respect for the verdict given by people to rule for 5 years. It is absurd to see parties going to any extent to grab power, be it any party in any state. Respect for "DEMOCRACY" is something none have learnt so far. We call ourselves a democratic nation. I am sorry I do not agree with this at all. We are nation where only "Jungle Raj" which rules us be it at the Centre or State. No one in this political system is unbiased towards anyone. Be it CM, Speaker, Governor or for that matter anyone who is ruling the nation. All are working towards how to topple each other. But they forget about the comman man who suffers the most in such crisis.

We all know who started the topple game, but the been adopted by others parties too. The Karnataka drama clearly shows that these people (all parties) can goto any extent to make a "Mockery of Democracy" & also make a fool of the citizens. Their is seriously something wrong with entire society where we all want to bring each other down in eyes of others. The political system is one such example. It is a sorry state of affairs, where the nation has more then 70% of people under poverty line and these people are making a merry for personal sake.

It was once said by Winston Churchill about our political class.

"Power will go to the hands of rascals, rogues and freebooters. All Indian leaders will be of low calibre and men of straw. They will have sweet tongues and silly hearts. They will fight amongst themselves for power and India will be lost in political squabbles.

This is a Winston Churchill quote, but there is a dispute whether he said that.

India is a geographical term. It is no more a united nation than the Equator".

This is coming out to be so true in today's contexts. I as a citizen feels ashamed and makes my head down in shame to see the country been taken for royal ride. Which govt. comes in the state of Karnataka, does not matter. The damage has been done to the image and more such incidents more the state and the country fall into deep sea.

We need another strong person "Mahatama" to save us from these people. The Mahatama would have been most disturbed man if he was alive. We have very week system and anyone can break the system when required. I can at the end only hope that better sense prevails amongst the few wise men and women in each party to come together and go beyond the egos and make sure that they are able to stop such blatant violation of law which these few people break.

Reasons of BJP'S Defeat

Elections 2009 came and has gone in matter of month. It was most uneventful elections in history of Indian Independance. No issues were in mind of any politican party. Only issue how to make sure BJP is stopped by hook or crook to come to power. If this is democracy then I have nothing much to say. Even Hitler would not have done or said anything like this.

Anyway, it was not surprising result as such. But the nature of Win and Loss was surprising. This Blog will assess the reasons behind the defeat of nationalist party (So called Communal) BJP. Let me give the actual reasons for this result. The following are the reasons for defeat of BJP: -

a) BJP did some tactical mistakes during the 26/11 attacks on India. They had a golden opportunity to corner the Central and State govts on this issue. But they slipped and gave a ray of life to Congress. Modi's going to Mumbai when the operations were going on in full swing. Advani's refusal to go with PM to Mumbai to-gether when he was invited to go by the PM. This was the one of the points where they lost the elections.

b) Arun Shourie's spoke out that after Advani, it will be Modi and Media made a huge issue of it and created confusion in voters mind. (It was a delibarate attempt by the Media)

c) Media and Congress went hammer and tongs to make people believe that BJP ideology means Hard Hindutva ( none exists and is figment of imagination) but people did believe the media. And that created a fear amongs the Muslim voters that if BJP comes they will be in big trouble.

d) BJP was branded communal by not only congress but also by the friends in need (Media). Made people to believe that supporting hinduism means Communal.

e) Sidelining Arun Jaietly just before election was the biggest blunder they made. A master strategist after Pramod Mahajan. Most certainly Pramod Mahajan was missed a lot by BJP. If he ould be alive today it would have been BJP in power.

f) Creation of extreme hatred and dislike for MODI by all sections of media was pit fall. A man elected by people of Gujarat been hounded means no one in this country has respect for verdict given by people of Gujarat.

g) The biggest turn around I feel was, too much attack on PM for being a weak PM did not go well with people. Although Advani was right that he was and is a weak PM and takes orders from Sonia Gandhi. They over played this and lost the elections.

h) Did not go all out against bad GOVT policies, price rise etc which were main factors which would have brought them to power.

i) Another most important aspect which has been down fall for BJP is, that divisions in Hindu votes are not helping them. Other religions have complete unity but Hindu is a divided religion and no sense pride exists. This is clear disadvantage BJP.

j) Most critical part is that making Advani as PM candidate was a Mistake. If they had made MODI as PM Candidate they would have won the elections hands down.

Where ever MODI went they won the elections. MP/Gujarat/Karanataka/JHH/Chhatisgarh/HP. It is easy to blame Varun and MODI for defeat. Making a person scape goat is easy. But if BJP would have won Varun and MODI would have become heros. So these are reasons I feel BJP lost. I hope the MEDIA becomes more neutral. I feel it will not happen as they need to be in the winning side.

INDIAN ELECTIONS AND LESSON TO BE LEARNT.

Long one month's mahabharat (General Elections) are over and results are out. Verdict is clear and Decisive. One side Won and other side Lost. Which is part of life and we all need to accept gracefully. This elections was hard faught and bitter fights were part of the election. As such this election was not faught on any issue. These elections were faught on who is Secular and who is Communal. Who is weak and who is strong. Issues took a back seat and no one talked about how will they sort out problems of Indian people. Congress was busy consolidating it's muslim votes ( which is Secular) and BJP busy consolidating Hindu Votes ( which is called Communal) but called Nationalist by BJP. But in doing this both parties tend to forget that India does not belong just to Hindus or Muslims. It belongs to all religions who stay together.

Both parties have played divide and rule policy and clearly shows in the mandate given by the people. It all started with Congress and followed by all parties. Some part of India voted for Congress and some part for BJP. Clearly, division within us is deep running. Divide and Rule was part of British rule, which has continued till date. And as the new govt. gets into action, I see further division in INDIA. Ofcourse, we cannot blame the political party completely. We too as a nation need to take this blame for believing these parties. India was ruled by Kings for many years, then came the Brits and now the present political class. Even today who rules us, Gandhi family which includes all grand kids of Indira Gandhi, Sindhia family, Badal Family, Amrindar Singh and family and list goes on. This election proves that fascination towards the white skin still persist in many parts of India even now. BJP unfortunately, has not been able to convience the nation that they are not against anyone in this country. And this has been the weakness even today. And the way other parties and also to a large extent Media have branded them communal just because they follow an Ideology (Hinduism) it makes it tough for BJP to kick start. I had heard of untouchabality in INDIA, but for sake of power a party is branded communal is clearly blatant untouchabalality. What kind of Demoracy is this where a party is untouchable. I as a gujarati, am proud of state of Gujarat that they have not considered BJP untouchable. Instead of using work Secular and Communal, it is high time this so called Secularist fight elections on issues and not issues which are not relevant to INDIA. BJP has ruled India for 6 yrs and are ruling in many parts of India. That clearly shows they are not communal and the people who voted them too are not communal.

This election I clearly saw Media playing a pivtol role in defeat of BJP. Media is suppose to be neutral, but clearly pro congress attitutde could be seen. Classical example when Varun Gandhi said something (what he said was not good) but he was hounded by Media. But when Laloo said that if he would have been (Home Minister) he would have crushed him under a roller, no action was taken by EC or for the matter state govt. When President of Andhra Pradesh Congress said if anyone tries to harass minorities (Muslims) he will cut hands of those people. But no action was taken against him. Media plays a role in which way people vote. I hope Media will change the way they report. They cannot take sides in an democracy.

Lesson's learnt in these election are so many. One Dynasty matters after all. Be it Rahul Gandhi or Varun Gandhi. Second, if state govts. do not perform they will not only perish in States elections but also in National Elections. Thirdly, Regional parties aspirations of having a top job will never be full filled. A clear divide between Urban and Rural India persist. Due to this divide regional parties did not do well. Lastly, people do not care about secular and communal. As those who voted for BJP cannot be called communal. I hope other elections are faught on issues and not issues which really does not matter to people of India.
